Kim Russo's (Ringling's new Fine Arts Chair) 5 Point Recipe for Success:

1. You have to be passionate.
2. You have to work hard and welcome information.
3. You have to be persistent and tenacious.
4. You have to network and make connections.
5. You have to have luck. But luck is recognizing an opportunity and having the guts to go for it.

WELCOME JUNIOR ARTISTS TO PAINTING III, FALL 2009

Dear Junior Artists,

WELCOME TO THE RINGLING FINE ART JUNIOR PAINTING-INTERDISCIPLINARY CLASS BLOG FOR COURSES: FA 371 FALL & FA 372 SPRING, PAINTING III & IV

This blog is where you will go regularly to see article, youtube, assignments posts, etc. A place also to comment on readings, process, ideas, breakthroughs, etc.

I hope you all had a great summer. Mine was exceptional.
I look forward to what you guys will be teaching me this semester. So don't hold back.

For day one:
BE ON TIME, and every class thereafter.
Come prepared to introduce yourself by briefly talking about your work to date: a favorite piece, process, or interest, etc. You may bring documentation or an actual piece if you like. Also talk about two or three artists you admire and why. This will get me a bit familiar with those of you whose work I don't yet know.

This will be your most productive semester to date, and the year you will begin to own your work like never before. Can't wait to witness and facilitate that!
