HERE IS YOUR SECOND WRITING ASSIGNMENT. I'M GIVING IT TO YOU EARLY SO YOU CAN START RESEARCHING ARTISTS IN YOUR SPARE TIME FROM THE GALLERY SITES BELOW:

Two Page Written RESEARCH and Written Discussion on One Artist, DUE MONDAY Nov. 9.

Write a two-page double-spaced, detailed paper on an artist of your choice that you research from one of the following galleries. Galleries are mostly in New York with one or two in LA and Berlin.

You must find an artist represented by one of these galleries that you are NOT familiar with. You must find an artist that has at least three reviews/feature articles and one interview, all of which you must have read along with looking at every image possible of their work. So you must Google the artist to find reviews and interviews. From this research, write a thoughtful and insightful paper on how this artist thinks and works. Find an artist whose work either relates in some way to your own, or whose work you would like to influence your work.

If the paper is not well written, an automatic F. (use the writing room) Remember, this is a research paper. Do the research, and make it thoughtful and insightful. Find an artist you will enjoy researching.

Quotes by E. O. Wilson, American biologist, theorist, naturalist, and author:

If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos.

Destroying rainforest for economic gain is like burning a Renaissance painting to cook a meal.

If those committed to the quest fail, they will be forgiven. When lost, they will find another way. The moral imperative of humanism is the endeavor alone, whether successful or not, provided the effort is honorable and failure memorable.

Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.

You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.
